The Poodle

By now, I'm sure you know the story about how I got started in the grooming business and what happened when I groomed my first schnauzer. If you are just now joining in my story you should (click here) to read the first story! Here goes my second part of the story, Learning to groom a poodle.
Now it was time to start on another popular breed, the poodle, (after I got good with scissors). My first poodle, of course, couldn't just stand there like the schnauzer had. No, this poodle was hyper and wouldn't stay where I put it.
The frustration kicks in and I scream "MOM, help"! Mom, so patiently, comes over and holds my dog still so I can give it a royal Dutch clip. The band around the waist was perfect. I scissored the pants and jacket, well. The face was clean and the clipping of the ears went smooth.
The Top Knot
Now it was time for the big challenge, the top knot (I watched a video on topknots at least 30 times - Mom made me). I started scissoring the poodle while listening to every hint and tip mom had to give me. I remembered the video, in the back of my mind. Success! We have a "helmet". Oops, the top-knot is supposed to be round, mine's kind of egg-like. "What now, Mom?"
Mom grabbed the scissors and snipped a couple of times, perfect. It looked just like the video said it would! I kept on watching the video (Mom said I HAD TO). Man, I just wanted to throw this video away. After a month or so of video torture I got good at poodles and schnauzers.
Ok Mom, what's next?
