How To Prepare Your Dog For The Groomer

  • Make sure to walk your dog before you drop it off at the groomer. The last thing a groomer wants to do is get your dog all prettied up then have them poop or pee in the cage. Should your dog have an "accident" the groomer has to re-do everything.
  • If your dog is a biter, please tell the groomer. Don't use cutsie words like, 'fidgety' or 'moody'

Example: "my dog is kind of 'fidgety', when you mess with his feet or ears.

The right way to say this is:

"My dog does not like his feet or ears messed with he will bite. See the difference? Now, the groomer is prepared with the proper knowledge of the animal and can adjust accordingly.

  • Brushing is very important.

Brush you pets often. Don't brush just once a month or just before you see your groomer. Pets don't like being brushed when they aren't used to being brushed. Pets would like being brush a lot more if there weren't horrible mats to comb out.

  • Don't call the groomer wanting in immediately then not show up or not be on time.

Not showing up or not being on time is one of the groomer's biggest pet peves!
